What Is Risk Management
Risk Management is a method for identifying risks in all areas, and developing and implementing a plan to protect an organization and prevent loss. An effective Risk Management program consist of these four basic steps:
- Assess, identify, analyze, and prioritize potential risk
- Select methods to prevent loss
- Implement the best methods
- Monitor the results and revise as necessary

Background Checks
Indiana Soccer requires that all adults having contact with youth players or club funds must have a current background check performed by and on file with the Indiana Soccer Office. Background checks must be renewed every two (2) years.
How To Submit Background Check in Gotsport- CLICK HERE (reviewed 9/12/2023)
Each adult is given a log in user name and password by their club registrar. Log in credentials may be obtained by using the look up function on the login page.
- Make sure all information is correct in your profile and that YOUR LEGAL NAME is used . (Use William instead of Bill, Samantha instead of Sam, etc.)
- Upload a photo similar to a passport ID photo (face and top of shoulders only).
- Go to the BACKGROUND CHECK page and complete the form.
A National Criminal Background Check will automatically run at the point the disclosure is submitted and the results will be available in the adult’s account once the check has been completed.

Safe Sport Education
February 14, 2018, the Safe Sports Act was signed into federal law. Indiana Soccer requires that all adults having contact with youth players complete the SafeSport course before they are permitted to participate with any youth. The course if provided free of charge to members and a refresher course (renewal) must take place every two (2) years.
How To Complete the SafeSport Course in Gotsport – CLICK HERE (reviewed 9/12/2023)
Each adult is given a log in user name and password by their club registrar. Log in credentials may be obtained by using the look up function on the login page.
- Note that it is imperative when taking the course a person use the exact same FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, and EMAIL ADDRESS that they have in their Gotsport account so that the SafeSport completion will appear in Gotsport.
- The course code is located in Gotspot ON THE LINK to the course.
- You must also select US SOCCER as your organization.

Concussion Awareness Education – Heads Up
Indiana Soccer REQUIRES that all adults having contact with youth players complete the CDC HEADS UP course before they are permitted to participate with any youth. The course if provided free of charge to members must be re-taken every two (2) years.

Indiana Soccer is committed to protecting its human, financial, and goodwill assets and resources through the practice of effective Risk Management.
The Board of Directors and staff are dedicated to safeguarding the safety and dignity of its paid and volunteer staff, its clients, and anyone who has contact with the organization.
To this end, the board will insure that Indiana Soccer has a Risk Management Plan for the organization that is reviewed and updated on an annual basis
